Get Involved

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

Romans 12:4-8 teaches we all have been given unique abilities to serve others. Would you like to serve, but aren’t quite sure where? A spiritual gifts assessment is a great place to start! Please contact us below and we will work with you to find an exciting opportunity to use your gifts and passions to serve the church. Our volunteers serve as our first impression during worship services and special events. You can volunteer for every Sunday, bi-weekly or once a month. There are several opportunities to get involved.

Facilities Maintenance Volunteer Opportunities
We are blessed at First Baptist Church with a campus that provides a comfortable, inviting places and spaces to worship, fellowship and dig deeper into Gods word.  These facilities require constant maintenance and from time to time we call on our volunteers to assist in projects to maintain our buildings and grounds in tip top shape.Volunteer opportunities may include, painting, carpentry, exterior maintenance, minor plumbing and electrical as well as other miscellaneous projects from time to time. If you feel led to be part of this team, kindly contact Bill Charland, Director of Property Management. CLICK HERE TO EMAIL

Lakefront Property
Do you have a couple of hours a week, in the cool of the day, to help out at the Lakefront Church property? Ever have a secret wish to operate a riding mower? Miss your old riding mower up North? Love to work in the yard? Have a green thumb? Are you a prayer walker? We have a beautiful Lakefront property that will help us reach the lost generations. We need some volunteers this summer to replace our winter friends and help the church keep the costs down.

Some things that will help:
Weed and ant control, help maintain and beautify the area, maintenance on mowers, walk the property and pray for those we will reach.  You can help anytime that suits you. Lonnie Steffen is available for direction, riding mower instruction, and guidance.  One rule, help needs to be in pairs for safety sake. So if you don't have a friend you can talk into helping, we'll pair you up with someone.

Lonnie Steffen, lstefffen@hicmgt.com.

Hoping to uncover some green thumbs in the group.

Guest Services
Greeter Team | Greeting guests and members before a worship service or special event as they enter.
Guests are first introduced to our church when they meet our guest services team as they enter our building. The greatest assets for serving in this area are a big smile, timeliness, and a willingness to welcome all attenders with warmth and joy. When attenders receive the newsletter and a smile from you their worship service has begun. 11:00am Greeter Team members must be willing to arrive no later than 10:15am and serve until 11:10am.

Usher Team | Serving as an usher inside the worship center during worship services or special event.
Ushers are asked to fill several roles. First, the usher is to be available to help assist in taking the offering. Secondly, ushers are asked to assist attenders in finding a seat when the services are crowded. Finally, we ask all ushers to be aware of anyone or anything that might be a threat to First Baptist and to report any and all suspicious situations to our campus police officer. Ushers should arrive 45 minutes before the 11am service.

Parking Team | Assisting with parking during our winter season or during special events.
Parking assistance is often needed because of our numerical growth and our downtown location. Parking team members serve as needed and are asked to arrive one hour prior to the event where the team is needed.

Worship Center Greeter Team | Greet attenders as they arrive in the worship center.
The pre-service greeter team is asked to walk up and the aisles of the worship center and greet worshipers as they arrive. The pre-worship service team is asked to begin greeting people 20 minutes prior to each service.

Welcome Tent Concierge Team | Maintain the outside information tent for attenders and guests as they arrive.
Volunteers arrive a half hour before their scheduled service.
