Getting Through or Getting Ready

The phone call goes something like this. “Hi, how are you doing? O.K., I guess. Just getting through the shutdown.”

Let us do something more than ‘just getting through’. God never had a time when He told His people to ‘just get through.’ When He did tell us to take a break it was for us to spend time with Him. He said to remember the Sabbath to keep it Holy. Even in His command to rest, there was a purpose! Stop work. Give your body a rest. Consider all that God is doing for you! Stopping was holy preparation.

“Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, because the Lord will do wonders among you tomorrow.’”            Joshua 3:5 (CSB)

Consecrate yourselves today. Consecrate, get rid of the things in our life that are not pleasing to God. The shutdown has provided us with an opportunity to stop and examine our lives. What parts of our life are not pleasing to God? That is our responsibility for today. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you those things that are hurting you and your witness. He will. Today is our responsibility!

“Just getting through”, not us! Because the Lord will do wonders among you tomorrow! Tomorrow is God’s responsibility. When we get rid of the ungodly in our lives, God will fill us with the power of His Holy Spirit, and He will do wonders among us.

“Just getting through”, not us! The corona-virus shutdown will not be a time where we simply spin our tires and waste our time. This shutdown is a time of preparation for God to do wonders.

“Just getting through”, not us! Today is our responsibility and we cannot wait to see God’s wonders tomorrow!

Tassie and I love you and are praying for you!
