Associate Pastor | Dr. Chris Cornette

Chris and his wife Devyn were both raised in High Point, North Carolina. Chris graduated from Houston Graduate School of Theology with a Master’s in Theology and also earned a Master’s in Christian Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Pastor Chris also earned his D.Min. from Liberty University. Chris’ passion is the local church. After serving churches in North Carolina and Texas, God called Pastor Chris and his family to First Baptist in January 2010. Chris’ responsibilities include discipleship, church growth systems, staff development, promotions, and vision implementation. With their three children, Christopher (16), Harrison (13) and Lauren (9), the Cornette’s stay active. When free time arises, Chris will be reading or on a bike ride with his family.
Business Administrator | Rev. Tom Dixon
Tom and is wife Mary came to First Baptist after retiring from academia and serving as a senior pastor. Tom served as Vice-President of Administration for Duke University and Depauw University. Tom received his seminary training from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Tom and Mary lead a Bible study group on Sunday mornings and can be found playing golf quite often.
Worship Pastor | Rev. Matt McKenzie
Pastor Matt and Susan have been married since 2001 and have three children Josiah, Amelia, and Ella Grace. Matt became a believer at the age of 18.  His education includes a B.A. of Arts in  Music and  Education from Marshall University; Kentucky Institute for International Studies – Salzburg, Austria and a Master of Religious Arts in Worship, graduating summa cum laude from Liberty University. Pastor Matt has served churches in Kentucky and West Virginia in the capacities of Worship, Christian Education and Administration and also as Senior Pastor. He believes that “Worship is the inward and outward response to the majestic wonder and splendor of a perfect, holy and righteous God.  Therefore, worship is the way we live out, as Christians, the Christ-centered and Christ-directed life each day.” 
Minister To Students | Micah Murphree
Micah met his wife Lois Ann at Auburn University, where they were both Auburn cheerleaders. Micah earned his BA in Psychology with a minor in Business as well as a Master’s in Communication and Public Relations with a Minor Master’s in Business Management from Auburn University. Several years later he was called to full time vocational ministry and went back to school and earned a Master’s of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has 3 sons: Micah Jr (12), Collin (9), and Gavin (7). When he’s not investing in the lives of teenagers, he’s spending time with his family. This usually involves him coaching one of his son’s sports teams year round.
Heather Mitchum | Director of Children’s Ministry
Heather trusted Jesus as Savior at the age of 5 and at age 16 said, “Yes”, to God’s call to ministry. Growing up in a ministry family, Heather gained an undeniable heart for ministry. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education from The Baptist College of Florida and a Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Heather has served in Africa, Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina. She came to First Baptist in March of 2015 and loves the families of Anchored Kids Ministry. In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband Matt and other family, being crafty, exercising, and visiting her favorite mouse in Orlando.
